A Field In England

It’s all about how films are being distributed from the Hollywood Industry in comparison to the smaller distribution companies like Film 4.0, They discuss the idea of how dominant Hollywood are in the movie industry and how they have an monopoly in the movie industry even if they don’t make more film than the rest of the movie industry with over 500 more films made that weren’t from the big 6 (Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, Universal, Disney and Paramount). Also how the distribution is changing so that multimedia channels are now the way forward in advertising.

A Field in England was the first film in the UK to launch simultaneously across all platforms on VOD (4OD and iTunes), free broadcast TV (Film4), DVD, Blu-Ray and cinema (17 Picturehouse venues).

By releasing the film on all available platforms as a result consumers will be able to see this film anyway possible they can go to a arthouse theatre they could watch it online with iTunes and 4OD and they are offering it for free on Film 4 so consumers will always have the chance to watch the film.

Because as a result it doesn't become a priority to go to the movie theatre and watch the film as quickly as possible because you can just buy the DVD for the same price or get it on iTunes instead and as a result you don't even have to leave the house to watch it or you can go on Film 4 and watch it for free instead so by releasing the film on all the platforms straight away equals to a lose in revenue for all of the platforms your offering it to.It one of the main reasons why the movie only got 64

I believe that the target audience for this would be between 25 and 35 because the film would be for more of an mature audience and the majority of the younger demographic wouldn't be going to art house theatres to watch this movie they would be focused on the mainstream movies like The Avengers or 50 Shades of Grey. Reformers in the B, C1 because this film will require a more mature audience to enjoy the film fully.

I believe that putting a film on all platforms immeditatly will not continue because it damages sales because no goes to the cinema to watch the film or even pay to rent it on iTunes or even stream it off Netflix they will just watch it for free on TV instead which leads to the film making as little money as possible due to everyone not paying to see the film itself.
